You Are My Friend by William August Kobs
You are my friend — Time and time again You lend a helping hand And try to understand The way I feel.
You are my friend — Since the day we met It’s you I can’t forget You always come around And pick me up when I’m down.
You are my friend — That’s one thing I will treasure Loving you is such a pleasure I hope you will stay with me Cause I need you, can’t you see.
You are my friend — Yes there have been others But none that cared so much With a gentle, loving touch As you care for me.
You are my friend — Please don’t leave me now I would crumble and fall I would surely lose it all I don’t think I could survive.
Sometimes I believe That all my friends Have turned against me. In my search for what is real, In my struggle to be me, I have left a place for you — You are my friend.

What is the use of poetry if no one reads it or comments on it -- it just becomes idle words on a page.

a very nice poem indeed William, and this must be one special friend, the true test of course when the chips are down and the cards are on the table. Your personality shines in your pen and it is always a pleasure to read. Thanks for sharing again.
peace as always, Bernie

And I will say you have it sir, that is the true measure of a friend, not just someone who listens or cares but who ultimately although it may be difficult, will do their best to understand you and how you feel. Very nice

As long as the place is there then a true friend will slip into it, ditch the others they are only hangers on. Blessed are we with a true frined or two. Thoughtful words a pleasure to read.
